Detailed Description:Join three Explorers Club members as they take you from the tip of Patagonia, over the Antarctic Peninsula and onto the Ice Continent. Touching down where no man has stepped before, they pioneered a new route to the top of the continent's tallest peak, 16,067 foot Mt. Vinson. Over a two week period the climbers ascended through ice fog too thick to see their feet, up an 8,000 foot ice face and across 2 miles of summit plateau set at over 15,000 feet, to gain the summit in a final 35 hour non-stop push. Taking detailed GPS readings, they discovered the map they were following was only a few miles off, and where they really were was more than occasionally in doubt. With a selection of photos chosen from the best of 5,000, their adventure in the coldest place on earth is vividly illustrated. You will hear the story first hand from the person who has ascended more new routes on Mt. Vinson than any other (Anderson), the first Bangladeshi national to reach the top of Antarctica (Haider), and the youngest person to ascend a new route on Mt. Vinson (Heintz).
