2018 Annual Dinner Excursions

We’re excited to share an incredible slate of experiences for those joining us this weekend at our 114th Annual Dinner! Each of these excursions offer a unique and exclusive experience as well as a wonderful opportunity to share an intimate view of a New York City attraction with your friends and fellow explorers.

Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are open to guests purchasing tickets at all levels. Please see the details below for start and end times, directions, as well as important additional details to ensure that your chosen excursion suits your schedule.

Excursion 1

National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey

National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey is a ground-breaking immersive entertainment experience that uses cutting-edge technology to transport you on an incredible underwater journey across the ocean.

Join your friends and family on this interactive, guided walk-through experience where National Geographic Encounter’s stunning photo-realistic animation gives you access to rarely witnessed moments in nature, including an up-close encounter with a Humpback whale, a battle between ferocious Humboldt squid, a magnificent bait ball feeding frenzy, and much more!


Meeting Time: 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM, Tours begin at 10:15 and 11:15 sharp
Duration: Approximately 2 hours

National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey is located in Times Square at 226 West 44th Street between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10036.

Excursion 2

Private Tour of the Paul Nicklen Gallery

Founded by Club Fellow and world-renowned photographer Paul Nicklen, this gallery is a vehicle for conservation photographers to display their work and give to a charity of their choice.

The Nicklen Gallery staff will give Members a private tour of the Gallery an hour before it opens to the public. They will also be available to answer questions about the work, and the associated charities. Paul has also kindly donated a print to our silent auction, which you can bid on later Saturday night!

Located in the heart of SOHO, guests can enjoy the initial hour at the Gallery, linger as the facilities open to the public, or head-out and enjoy one of New York’s most famous neighborhoods.

Duration: 1 hour

Excursion 3

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a non-profit, educational institution featuring the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid and including the Space Shuttle Pavilion, home to Enterprise, the world’s first space shuttle that paved the way for America’s successful Space Shuttle Program, 28 authentically restored aircraft, the British Airways Concorde, and the submarine Growler, the only American diesel-powered strategic missile submarine open to the public. The museum also includes an 18,000 sq. ft. education center and the Exploreum, an interactive hall focused on themes of water, space, air and life at sea.

On this custom tour, visitors will be taken on an interactive journey through history to learn about American innovation and bravery.  Learn about Intrepid’s history from World War II up to the Vietnam War, including historical details about aircraft carrier operations. Hear stories about the men who served aboard Intrepid, and see artifacts from the Museum’s collection as you explore the hangar deck and flight deck of the Intrepid.

You’ll also discover Intrepid’s connection to the United States’ early spaceflight programs Mercury and Gemini. Get a look at Enterprise, the first space shuttle, while hearing about the triumphs and tragedies of the space shuttle program. And see a Russian Soyuz capsule that flew to the International Space Station.


Arrival Time: Around 9:45 AM, Tour begins at 10:00 AM
Duration: 2-3 hours

Guests with reservations must pick up their tickets at the museum will-call desk, and then meet with the group at the Information desk.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is located on the West side of Manhattan on Pier 86, 12th Ave. & 46th Street. It is easily accessible from all points in the New York City Metro area. Please see the following web site for directions and transit information.
