Information – and the quest to obtain it – is at the heart of exploration, a fact recognized by The Explorers Club since its inception. It is not enough for the explorer to do something “new”. His doing must add to the sum total of men’s knowledge, and he must pass that knowledge on to the next generation.
Research Collections plays a vital role in this process by preserving, arranging and making available the Club’s collections of enduring value. These include the records of the Club itself, as well as the manuscripts, objects and published material in its care.
The Club welcomes visits by members, scholars and others interested in the history and practice of exploration. For further information about our collections and obtaining access, please see our holdings and visit us pages.
