8th Annual Three Island BBQ - "The Journey Continues"

Watercolor by Steve Burnett MR '93

We're excited to announce that Dr. Bob Ballard MED '78 will be joining us via live video from his ship the Nautilus. He will address the crowd and field questions from the audience, direct from the Channel Islands!

Special guest host Ambassador R. James Woolsey will also be attending. Jim has held five appointments for four Presidents, in two Republican and two Democratic administrations, including having served as the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

This year’s evening theme will feature the food and drinks of Ernest Hemingway’s Cuba, with dancing and music provided by one of New York’s best party DJs, Victor Lesser, a principal of Manhattan City Music. Victor is also a band leader and musician. Very casual island and summer attire is suggested. The most originally dressed festive man and woman in the themes of Hemingway’s Cuba or an Ernest Hemingway look alike will each receive a special door prize.

Highlights from the menu include: Hors D’oeuvres from Ernest Hemingway’s own recipe for hamburgers served as sliders and mini grilled fish Tostadas with tartar sauce. The main course includes grilled on the Club terrace Cuban BBQ chicken, and hot dogs. It will be accompanied with Hemingway's Cuban-style black beans, several summer salad choices including some other traditional BBQ fare, and a coconut dessert surprise. We will also have vegetarian offerings. Special Hemingway Cuban rum drinks such as Hemingway’s Mojito Recipe will be served and we will also feature a full premium bar and soft drinks.
