As Told At The Explorers Club

Join us for an evening of storytelling and fellowship, food and drink.

Once again we are reviving The Long Table Dinner at The Explorers Club. This is a venerable tradition of the Explorers Club which goes back to the founding of our club and a fine history of it can be found in the forward that George Plimpton wrote for As Told At The Explorers Club.

Bring your story and be prepared to tell it with no live streaming, video or tape recorder present. And, what is a story? This is not the place for braggadocio or how one reached the top or bottom of anything. And if you want to read two good ones, read “A Leap in the Dark” by Charles A. Lindbergh or “The Compass That Talked” by Edward Weyer. Both are to be found in the book As Told At The Explorers Club. Or, what did you do when the fox got into the cockpit?

Doc Hermalyn is our MC and Steve Nagiewicz is our time keeper for this evening of good cheer!

The fireplace will be aglow – weather permitting!

Approximately ten Explorers Club members will regale us for about 5 minutes each. If you wish to speak, put in your name with Reservations when you reserve your ticket for the dinner. Names will be selected on a lottery basis and you will be contacted if your name is chosen.

Members only! – (No significant others, no friends of family or family of friends allowed!) We’ll just relax in front of the fireplace and let the stories flow.
