The Effect of DNA Mutations in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Schizophrenia

Molloy College Assistant Professor in Biology, Mary Kusenda, Ph.D. will be discussing her dissertation and ongoing research in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Schizophrenia. Dr. Kusenda's slide presentation will explore some of the many advances in DNA science that have contributed to a growing understanding of nervous system disorders, such as how the ability to examine the correlation between bone malformation and gene mutations has enabled researchers to gain insight into the development of these neuropathologies. Dr. Kusenda will then describe her own research in depth, which centers on the analysis of Schizophrenia and Autism Spectrum Disorder etiologies from a genetic perspective. She will also recount her personal journey, describing what led her to pursue a career in science.

Breakfast will be served before the lecture.
