Film Screening - River of Gold

The Explorers Club Film Committee invites you to a screening of the new documentary film River of Gold and a post-screening discussion.

Led by Peruvian biologist Enrique Ortiz, war journalists Ron Haviv and Donavan Webster bear witness to the apocalyptic destruction of the Amazon caused by illegal gold mining. River of Gold exposes this existential threat to thousand-year-old trees, native inhabitants, undiscovered species of plants and insects, and more. Four years after their initial trip, the Peruvian government stages a massive intervention. What will be the fate of the Madre de Rios, a region of priceless biodiversity, as its forests are systematically turned into a wasteland?

An Amazon Aid Foundation production. Directed by Reuben Aaronson. Produced by Sarah Dupont. Narrated by Academy Award-winners Sissy Spacek and Herbie Hancock.

Producer Sarah duPont and photographer/film subject Ron Haviv will be at the Explorers Club for a post-screening discussion.
