Film Screening - The Narwhal’s Wake

In the face of seismic cannon, oil exploration, changing arctic climates, and Inuit hunts, the creature that spawned a legend might soon become a myth.

The Explorers Club cordially invites you to a short screening of ‘The Narwhal’s Wake,’ followed by talks on the dangers facing the narwhals of Baffin Bay. Club member Dr. Martin Nweeia, expert on the narwhal’s tooth, will discuss his research into the evolution of this fascinating sensory organ.

Dr. Christopher Clark, club member, will talk about his research regarding underwater noise pollution and the effects upon cetaceans. Director of 'The Narwhal's Wake,' Ian Q. Rowan, will follow up with the challenges of filming these creatures and the current production of the film. The talks will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Pamela Peeters, environmental economist and founder of of Sustainability Week NYC.
