Extreme Science - The search for high altitude archaeological sites, rare cats, and novel ecosystems in South America

Explorers Club Fellow and National Geographic Explorer Preston Sowell has led, supported, and photographed expeditions to 21 countries around the world, including 16 scientific expeditions to remote areas of South America. Join us as Preston recounts some of his discoveries and expeditions from high-altitude sites in the Peruvian Andes and the volcanoes of the Atacama Desert. Specific topics will include high-altitude scuba diving to investigate submerged ruins, the highest ecosystem and the highest archaeological site in the world, and a search for the endangered Andean mountain cat. This event is FREE and open to the public.
