NY Eats Bugs

Join hosts The New York Entomological Society, The Explorers Club, The Metropolitan Society of Natural Historians and Alimentary Initiatives for one or both of two events celebrating the possibilities of edible insects. Both events take place in the historic and beautifully appointed home of The Explorers Club on Saturday November 21, 2015.

Crickets & Cocktails

Tastes & talks on edible insects
4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Doors open at 3:30 pm
$20 inclusive
This first event features a drinks and canapé reception in the Club’s library and on the terrace. The afternoon’s event will close with three talks on insects by:
• Dr. Phil Barden, paleoentomologist
• Mr. Louis N. Sorkin, entomologist, The American Museum of Natural History
• Ms. Katharina Unger, designer and inventor of Livin Farm, the world’s first desktop edible-insect hive.
• MC: Baron Ambrosia

New York Banquet of Bugs

Edible insects in six courses
Doors open at 7:00 pm
$125 inclusive
The evening’s second event starts in the library where canapés and drinks will be served. Around 8:00 pm, guests will be invited to take their seats at the banquet table, to enjoy a six course dinner of edible insects. The only meat in the meal will be from edible insects. A variety of insects will be served including crickets, grasshoppers, locusts, mealworms, water beetle larvae, ants, and... The meal will be prepared by Natalia “Cookie” Martinez and guests.
