NYC - President's Dinner w/ Katie Carpenter and John Heminway

For more than a decade, film makers (and explorer club members) Katie Carpenter and John Heminway have joined forced to document our planet on film, in ways original and soul-wrenching. Their best known works are Emmy-nominated “A Year On Earth” about three American kids, traveling between Africa, Asia and Latin America trying to save the planet. “Bones of Turkana” is about the astonishing legacy of the Leakey Family, deciphering human pathways bisecting Northern Kenya— and, in time, led us to people the earth. “Battle For The Elephants,” is the recent National Geographic / PBS Special that has had a profound effect around the world, changing minds and policy, regarding trade in ivory. John and Katie will be sharing film clips, stories and anecdotes, and background information on producing these 3 documentaries.
