Saturday Science for Students: Winter Birds of Long Island

New York City is a great water port located along the Atlantic Migratory Flyway. Millions of birds travel back and forth along the NYC coast every spring and fall. In addition, the salt marshes of Jamaica Bay attract and provide habitat for many bird species in all seasons. Naturalist Don Riepe has been studying and photographing birds for over 30 years and his photos have been published in many magazines including Audubon, Scientific American, National Wildlife and the New York Times. His presentation will include photographs and a discussion about the behavior, biology and habitats of a wide variety of local birds.
