Seminar Series - Ron Rosner

Expedition Security in an Increasingly Unstable World

On Thursday, June 15, 2017, Ronald F. Rosner, ME’72 will conduct a seminar on ‘Expedition Security in an Increasingly Unstable World’. Ron points out in today’s fraught international situation, the question of personal security has taken the forefront of concerns once dominated by worries regarding health, theft, communications and securing a safe means of payment. Paradoxically, while there has been an exponential increase of sources willing to provide guidance and information (often for a fee), the most reliable and accurate advice still comes from fellow explorers and others who have recently worked in the area in question. This session will investigate where to obtain needed security information and how to evaluate it.

Ron Rosner has extensive international credentials, both governmental and private. He served in Kathmandu, Bogota and Karachi as a Foreign Service Officer. On leaving the Foreign Service he worked for more than 25 years in international business throughout the world opening markets in China, India and the Middle East. Ron has a lifetime of experience in dealing with an array of security issues. Following 9/11 he briefed U.S. Army troops on the history and conditions in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Ron is the Honorary Secretary of the Royal Society of Asian Affairs which allows him to maintain contacts over a wide spectrum of persons involved in security matters.
