Inventor, adventurer, entrepreneur, collector, entertainer, Club Fellow and Board Member Richard Garriott de Cayeux has been behind some of the most exciting undertakings of our time. A lifelong adventurer, Richard has embarked on a number of thrilling expeditions: he has plumbed the depths of the Atlantic ocean to see the grave of the Titanic, hunted for meteorites in Antarctica, and as the son of legendary scientist-astronaut Owen Garriott, became the first 2nd generation American astronaut in 2008 when he embarked on a 10 day mission to the International Space Station.
Richard has also been one of the foremost pioneers of the private space industry, investing his time and energy into making space travel more accessible for all. A legendary pioneer of the gaming industry—and a member of every gaming Hall of Fame—Richard invented the massively multi-player online game (MMORPG) genre and term, and coined the term “Avatar" to describe an individual's virtual character.
Join us as he shares stories from his new memoir “Explore/Create” – and tells tales that will be found nowhere in print.
