Sheldon Breiner
A distinguished entrepreneur, inventor, and geophysicist, Sheldon Breiner specializes in exploration, scientific, and cultural research to uncover hidden objects, historical places, and other mysteries noninvasively, most commonly using technology applying of the principals of magnetics and measurements with high-sensitivity magnetometers.

G. Chris Fischer
Chris Fischer, the founder of OCEARCH, has led twenty global expeditions in the past seven years dedicated to the advancement of science, education, public safety, and public policy in protecting the world’s marine resources, most specifically, Great Whites and other sharks.

David G. Gallo
A true pioneer at the forefront of ocean exploration, David Gallo, Director of Special Projects at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, is one of the first oceanographers to use both manned submersibles and robots to map the ocean world on diverse expeditions. Dr. Gallo recently co-led an effort to develop the first comprehensive map of RMS Titanic.

Rosaly M.C. Lopes
An internationally illustrious planetary geologist and volcanologist, Rosaly Lopes is the Manager for Planetary Science and a Senior Research Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Recently Dr. Lopes has been working to utilize remote sensing data collected from spacecrafts to analyze the geologic features on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, and its ice volcanoes.

Frederik D.A. Paulsen
In addition to his devoted philanthropic efforts and environmental advocacy and exploration, Frederik Paulsen is a noted Polar Explorer who is the only person to have attained all eight poles and the first to have crossed the Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia in an ultralight aircraft.

Edward P. Roski Jr.
Ed Roski is an avid cyclist, mountain climber, and accomplished wilderness diver who has dedicated his civic efforts to promoting cultural education. He has led and underwritten diverse academic and professional institutions, most notably, with his donation of masterworks from three cultural regions of Micronesia, Melanesia, and Polynesia, which are on permanent exhibition at the Bowers Museum. Mr. Roski also cofounded the Land of the Free Foundation which serves families of US war veterans.

Sunday, October 12th
A specially designed guided tour of major sights and locations in Los Angeles and Hollywood will be led by Explorers Club Member Alan Feldstein and his wife Diane Haithman, who is an author and reporter specializing in the entertainment industry. The tour will include stops at TCL/Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Griffith Observatory, La Brea Tar Pits and other sights of interest. Transportation will be by bus and lunch is included. The bus will depart from the Doubletree Hotel at 10:00 am and return by 6:00 pm. The cost per person is $65.00. No refunds after October 1st 2014

All tickets include attendance to the October 11th Saturday morning Symposium featuring the LTAD Awardees and the Lowell Thomas Award Dinner Cocktail Reception and Dinner at the Bowers Museum. All tables seat 10 and table seating is based on the Level of ticket and the timing of purchase. It is recommended that those wishing to sit together purchase their tickets at the same time. Every effort will be made to honor seating requests, but we can only guarantee seating requests when full tables or partial tables of ten are purchased at the same time. We expect this event to sell out before October 1st so please make your plans early.

Travel and Hotel Information

The closest airport to the Bowers Museum (Venue for the Lowell Thomas Award Dinner) is Orange County/John Wayne Airport (SNA) and there’s a special rate at the nearby Doubletree Hotel (located at 100 The City Drive, Orange, CA 92868).
