Visiting Explorer Program with Pamela Peeters & Martin Neewia

Narwhal Translational Technologies Expedition

Flag #179 Returns From the Top of the World

Climate change in the High Arctic has challenged the very Inuit calendar that defines the seasons. Join Martin Nweeia and Pamela Peeters as they witness the coldest summer in 30 years, and the effects of two major polar ice breaks that affect everything from animal migrations to seasonal Arctic berries. This is the 12th Flag for Dr. Nweeia, and the second expedition the team has organized to continue unraveling the puzzling twist of the narwhal tusk. Join them and hear about their incredible journey to experience narwhal migration, and learn about the largest whale genetic study ever mounted.

The Nweeia’s (Pamela & Martin) will also debut their new graphic novel, “Touched By A Tusk” describing the tale of Peeters kids loveable Eco-Hero character called to the Arctic to help the call of the narwhals. The children’s book introduces the Inuit Legend of the Narwhal, the effects of climate change and impacts of industrial development, and ultimately unlocking the mystery of the legendary tusk.
