Please participate: Explorers Club Future Tech Survey

Ever felt encumbered by the amount of gear you feel you need to bring into the field? Wish you had an affordable, lightweight way to collect and transmit data or charge electronics when you’re far from civilization?

The 2012 Explorers Club Future Tech Survey is the club’s first effort to get a better understanding of what technology issues our members are experiencing in the field, and what our most important technology needs are regarding field exploration, communications and data processing.

Once we have an understanding of the issues that are most pressing to explorers, we can start addressing them. In that spirit, we ask you to please take an online technology survey, which is completely anonymous.

This survey has a total of 18 questions, mostly in a quick, convenient checklist form. It is available online until May 18, 2012.  The survey is in 2 parts, and can be found here

On May 15, 2012, the seminar FutureTech : Digital Toolkits for 21st Century Explorers will be held in the Trophy Room at 6:30pm for members and invited guests. Leaders of NYC’s tech community will be on hand to discuss the 5 most common technology deficits revealed by your survey responses.

The seminar and survey are only the beginning of an ongoing dialogue between explorers and technology experts to find solutions to data and communications issues unique to explorers. We will be posting the results of the survey and seminar online for the benefit of club members worldwide.

Please participate and ask your fellow Explorers to do the same!
